On Sunday, February 17, we welcome back to Christ & St. Luke’s Dr. Benjamin Morse, distinguished scholar and author of a two volume Children’s Bible. The Old Testament, The Oldest Bedtime Story Ever and the recently published New Testament, The News about Jesus and How He Saved the World. Both volumes are chock full of Dr. Morse’s original artwork. While these are marketed as children’s Bibles, his way of telling the stories are creative and engaging, good for adults to read for an overview of the Biblical story.

Dr. Morse spent part of his childhood in Norfolk and Christ & St. Luke’s where his late mother was Christian Education Director before she attended seminary. Cathy Lewis was his baby sitter, and we have known him since his childhood.

Benjamin Morse grew up in Connecticut and Virginia before studying religion and art history at Vassar College.  He later completed a Master’s in Biblical Interpretation at Oxford University and a Master’s in Modern Art at the Courtauld Institute in London.  He was then awarded a Ph.D. from Glasgow University for a dissertation on the Hebrew Bible’s aesthetic diversity. His scholarly work has been published in multiple collections and journals.

Following both services and Evensong, a limited number of copies of the New Testament will available for purchase and autograph. Please welcome him back to Christ & St. Luke’s.
