Together for Kenya continues to partner with Nazareth Mission Hospital and other Kenyan health and educational organizations during this critical time. Together we equip and protect men women and children in vulnerable communities as they respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nazareth Mission Hospital
Nazareth is located on an eighteen acre compound that is now equipped to screen each employee, visitor, vendor and patient for COVID-19 symptoms. Suspected individuals are transported to another hospital to receive treatment. Nazareth medical personnel work 12 hour shifts and staffing has been adjusted to best match the hospital census.
Together for Kenya financially provides Out Patient care for impoverished children in that immediate community. We have helped over 35 children since January.
Kawaida Primary School
In the Village of Kawaida Kenya this school, home for 1000 students, is closed … just as US schools. You may recall Together for Kenya in partnership with the Kawaida Anglican Church has provided daily porridge meals for each child…all 1000 students! Recently Christ and St Luke’s members have also donated over 500 tooth brushes and paste for use in that school. That hygiene project will be expanded to include “hand washing” training. Hopefully we can also provide additional access to hand washing stations which will have a lifesaving impact long after the the pandemic has ended.
Mutomo Mission Hospital
Mutomo Mission Hospital is another healthcare facility supported by Together for Kenya. Currently they are training their medical staff and community health workers to build resilience and help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in their community. Training includes a firm understanding of signs of infection as well as the best practices and protocols for prevention, control and mitigation including hand washing and social distancing. Currently there are no reported cases of COVID-19 in that community.
Kate and I want to thank you for your prayers and financial support of these projects helping those in need. We look forward to returning to Kenya at the earliest safe opportunity.
