SACRED MUSIC IN A SACRED SPACE
We are thrilled to provide some of the area’s most beautiful music in a venue that is as sacred as it is beautiful.
Long noted for its excellence in sacred music, Christ and St. Luke’s has stood as a beacon to the community for over 100 years. This music is further magnified by the stunning setting where it is heard and performed. Each season, Sacred Music in a Sacred Space opens the church doors to thousands of people from around the Hampton Roads community.
We invite you to support this collaboration with your presence at concerts and by becoming a Friend of Music. The Friends of Music is a great way to support Sacred Music in a Sacred Space at Christ and St. Luke’s. Parish members and non-members alike are invited to contribute to the operating costs of running a series of this scope. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution.
The 2018-2019 season showcases talented musicians from across Hampton Roads, including our own Choirs of Christ and St. Luke’s. This season’s highlights include Brahms’ sublime Ein Deutsches Requiem and Handel’s Messiah sung with period orchestra. This year will witness the return of our Great Organ, which has been undergoing extensive refurbishment. Concurrently, our Church buildings have been restored and renewed for future generations to come. In 2019, we will celebrate our new organ with a series of services, recitals, and concerts. Our season will culminate in July 2019 with a tour to England and France!
