The village of Kawaida Kenya is difficult to find on a map of Nairobi. It is there… but often bypassed by travelers. This area is known for tea plantations and flower farms both of which only attract day laborers.
The word Kawaida means “ordinary” in Swahali. Yet to Kate and I and the members of the Kawaida Anglican Church know their village is not ordinary.
On our recent visit to that area we discovered the Kawaida Care Center. A safe refuge for 25 abandoned and at risk children. The center is funded and staffed by the local Anglican church.
How can we help? Together for Kenya went to work and provided new mattresses, food, clothing, shoes and school fees for these beautiful children in need.
What an honor to join others in helping these young children. Thank you!
